PITTSBURGH – Nicholas Bagiatis, Reed Smith chief operating officer, is among 26 Pittsburgh-area business leaders selected by Pittsburgh Business Times for its 2023 C-Suite Awards.

The annual award recognizes executives from the region's largest companies and nonprofit organizations for excellence in leadership and management, innovation, contributions to their organizations' financial growth and success, and commitment to civic and volunteer activities.

Since becoming COO in 2018, Bagiatis has had a key role in establishing the firm's vision and direction. He oversees the firm's global operations and administrative function, including human resources, innovation, technology, accounting, finance and operations. In addition, he is actively involved in Reed Smith's long-range financial plan and implementation of financial strategies for industry sectors, practice groups and global network.

Bagiatis also oversees the Reed Smith Client Value Team and leads the evaluation and implementation of firmwide value pricing, alternative fee arrangements and legal project management services.

Among his significant achievements in the last five years, Bagiatis was the driving force behind the firm's significant financial growth, building a best-in-class C-suite, expanding the firm's DEI initiatives to include Reed Smith's professional staff, and promoting and sustaining innovation.

Bagiatis is an ex officio member of the firm's Senior Management Team and a current member of its Executive Committee. He also serves as champion of the firm's LEADRS business inclusion group, which supports and enhances career development of individuals with disabilities.

Bagiatis provides significant support for student interns who work with the Pittsburgh Office Services Team. The internship program is a partnership with St. Anthony School, an inclusive educational program of the Roman Catholic Diocese of Pittsburgh students in grades 5-12 with developmental and intellectual disabilities.

He is also dedicated to serving his community through various volunteer programs, currently serving as a mentor for a ninth-grade student through the Big Brothers/Big Sisters program at Charleroi High School. In addition, Bagiatis and his wife Kristen are active supporters and regular volunteers with Blueprints, a nonprofit organization serving economically disadvantaged individuals and families in Green and Washington counties in Pennsylvania, and in West Virginia.
