Avinash is an associate in the firm’s Global Commercial Disputes Group. His practice focuses on commercial disputes in the Middle East, Africa, Southeast Asia and Oceania.
Avinash has experience in a wide range of industry sectors, including construction and engineering, technology, intellectual property, oil and gas, blockchain and artificial intelligence. His practice covers international commercial and investment arbitrations administered by major arbitral institutions, including the ICC, ICSID, LCIA, DIAC and MIAC, as well as ad hoc arbitrations administered under UNCITRAL and PCA Rules.
Avinash spent two years as assistant legal counsel at the Permanent Court of Arbitration in The Hague, Netherlands and in Mauritius. During this time, he assisted tribunal secretaries and supported tribunals in inter-state, investor-state, treaty and contract arbitrations. He also worked on appointing authority requests under the UNCITRAL and PCA Rules. Avinash regularly acts as arbitrator for the Willem C. Vis International Commercial Arbitration Pre-Moot competition.
Avinash has represented clients in civil and commercial litigation before various courts in Mauritius, and he is a keen advocate for pro bono initiatives. He maintains a bilingual practice (English & French).
