In his role as Chief Counsel, Mr. Seale advised Senator Trent Lott (R-MS), on constitutional issues and major policy legislation. Mr. Seale was also Senator Lott's representative to state and local government organizations such as the National Governors Association and The National Conference of State Legislatures. Mr. Seale will focus his practice on providing clients comprehensive legislative and regulatory representation on issues ranging from tort liability system reform to reform of laws affecting advancing communications and other technologies.

"In addition to his knowledge of the national issues and the federal legislative process, Steve brings a wealth of experience with state and local governments to our group in Washington and to Reed Smith's offices in Pennsylvania, Virginia, Delaware, and New Jersey."
Mr. Seale served two terms as a Mississippi State Senator and was chairman of the Municipalities Committee. Mr. Seale's practice prior to joining Senator Lott's staff included complex civil trial and appellate litigation. He received his B.A. and J.D. from the University of Mississippi. He served as an active duty officer in the U.S. Navy and was a member of the U.S. Naval Reserve. Mr. Seale was previously a partner in the Hattiesburg, Mississippi firm of Heidelberg, Sutherland & McKenzie and in the Washington office of Akin, Gump, Strauss, Hauer & Feld.
