Best Lawyers is a guide to finding superior legal talent worldwide. Lawyers are nominated by their peers and their nominations are voted on in a confidential peer evaluation.
Among all lawyers named to the 2020 edition, only one lawyer in each practice area in each metro location is honored as Lawyer of the Year.
For the 2020 edition, Reed Smith had seven lawyers so-named:
- John P. Feldman is a partner in the Entertainment and Media Group focusing on advertising and unfair competition issues. He is based in Washington, D.C.
- Kirsten R. Rydstrom, a partner in our Pittsburgh office, works on intellectual property and patent law issues for companies in the computer, telecom, material science, and medical device fields. She won 2019 Lawyer of the Year honors as well.
- Partner Lee A. Zoeller has resolved numerous difficult state tax matters before administrative appeal boards, tax tribunals, and courts in more than 20 states. He is the chair of our State Tax Group and works out of the firm’s Philadelphia office.
- Paul D. Fogel, a partner in our Appellate Group in San Francisco, served two years as a judge with the Alameda County Superior Court, and later led our Appellate Group from 2012 to 2015.
- R. Hugh Lumpkin is a partner in our Insurance Recovery Group in Miami. He represents policyholders in evaluating, settling, and litigating insurance claims.
- Partner Carolyn D. Duronio has extensive experience representing nonprofits, charities, and trade associations before the IRS and federal courts. She works out of our Pittsburgh office and is a repeat winner from last year.
- Partner Russell J. Boehner, also based in Pittsburgh, advises on pension and employee benefit law as well as fiduciary duty questions for ERISA-regulated plan sponsors and service providers.
In addition, of the 133 Reed Smith lawyers receiving recognition as Best Lawyers in America, senior counsel Grayson P. Hanes and partner Paul M. Singer have been named to the list for 30 years, while Daniel I. Booker, Thomas C. Fox, Rudolf E. Hutz, Leo N. Hitt, Julia Krebs-Markrich, and Charles H.
