United States
Three California partners — Katy Basile, Jason Garcia and Rob Phillips – were named among the best trademark professionals. The guide stated:
- “Forming a world-class team in Silicon Valley and San Francisco are [Basile, Garcia and Phillips], who have vast collective experience spanning all aspects of trademark law. Basile and Garcia make an exceptionally strong pairing, and are relied on by some of the world’s most innovative technology companies for wide-ranging trademark protection services. Phillips litigates across the IP spectrum with aplomb but is also sought after for strategic advice. He has undertaken extensive work for the Duracell Co., among other leading names.”
The 2023 guide conferred, for the third year running, top ratings to the firm’s California trademark group for its achievements in both “Individuals: enforcement and litigation” and “Individuals: prosecution and strategy.”
“Reed Smith understands the business criticality of strong trademarks and distinctive brands and combines deep domain expertise in trademark, trade dress, dilution, cybersquatting and unfair competition law with commercial acumen. The firm makes light work of managing multi-jurisdictional clearance projects and filing programs but also plays a key strategic advisory and litigation role for its clients.”
