LONDON – Global law firm Reed Smith’s collaborative Domestic Abuse Response Alliance (DARA) was highly commended for the Pro Bono Initiative of the Year category at the inaugural Legal 500 ESG Awards.

The awards celebrate the very best ESG initiatives across the UK legal market, recognising private practice and in-house organisations as well as the Bar for their efforts to bring about change across all aspects of ESG.

Reed Smith is one of the founding member firms of DARA, the multi-firm advocacy alliance which is the largest pro bono project ever assembled in this jurisdiction to provide end-to-end representation and advocacy support for domestic abuse survivors seeking protective orders against their abusers.

At Reed Smith, the team leading on DARA is made up of partner Sally-Ann Underhill and associates Alia Khalil and Louisa Martac, with support from counsel and head of EMEA pro bono Becca Naylor and associate Jessica Tagg.

Last year, DARA won the 2023 PILnet Local Impact Award and was recognised as Pro Bono Initiative of the Year at The Lawyer Awards 2023.
